About the Director
Dr. Eunice is
an accomplished educational psychologist and the visionary director of the
Poverty Adversity Mitigation Project (PAM). With a PhD in Educational
Psychology, she is profoundly committed to addressing the challenges faced by
vulnerable children in Uganda. Her journey from a disadvantaged background in
southwestern Uganda to becoming a Doctor of Philosophy in the field of
education and love for child welfare reflects her passion for putting a smile
on the face of the vulnerable children.
Growing up in a
rural community, Eunice experienced firsthand the harsh realities of poverty
and its impact on educational opportunities. As a child, she was not only aware
of her own struggles but also witnessed the devastating effects of financial
hardship on her peers. One pivotal moment in her life came when her elder
sister was forced into early marriage due to a lack of school fees, an
experience that left a lasting impression on Eunice. This event fueled her
desire to advocate for the education of children who, like her sister, faced
barriers that threatened to derail their future. Eunice's journey toward
academic excellence was significantly supported by Compassion International, an
organization dedicated to helping children break the cycle of poverty through
education and instilling Christian values. Through their assistance, she was
able to access education at a young age, a privilege that many of her peers
could only dream of. This support instilled in her the belief that education is
a powerful tool for transformation. Motivated by her own experiences, Eunice
developed a strong desire to create opportunities for other vulnerable
children, helping them unlock their potential through education and personal
development.
Her dream
culminated in the establishment of PAM, a non-profit organization designed to
address the numerous challenges faced by children experiencing poverty-related
adversity. Under her leadership, PAM focuses on holistic development, providing
educational support, skills training, and psychological well-being services.
Eunice firmly believes that by equipping children with life skills and
fostering their emotional health, they can build resilience and achieve their
aspirations.
Dr. Eunice’s
vision for PAM extends beyond immediate educational support. She envisions a
world where every child, irrespective of their background, has the opportunity
to thrive. She is passionate about creating programs that not only aid in
academic achievement but also promote mental health and psychological
resilience. This multidimensional approach is rooted in her understanding of
the interplay between education and psychological well-being, which she
emphasizes in her work.
In addition to
her role at PAM, Eunice is dedicated to advocating for policy changes that
promote equal access to education for all children, particularly in rural
areas. She actively collaborates with various stakeholders, including schools,
NGOs, and community leaders, to mobilize resources and foster an inclusive
educational environment. She believes that her efforts as a leading voice in
the fight against childhood adversity in Uganda won’t be frustrated.
Dr. Eunice is
not just a director; she is a mentor and an inspiration to many young people
facing adversity. You could read one of her great narratives ‘Destined
for success’ which she wrote just after PhD completion. She shares her
story and empowers others to believe in their potential. Her journey from a
vulnerable child to a successful academic and non-profit leader serves as a beacon
of hope for those who dare to dream despite their circumstances.
As PAM
continues to grow and expand its impact, Dr. Eunice remains steadfast in her
mission to uplift and empower. Her commitment to fostering educational access,
emotional resilience, and life skills development reinforces her belief that
every child deserves the chance to succeed, regardless of their socio-economic
status. With her at the helm, PAM is poised to make a meaningful and lasting
impact on the lives of countless children in Uganda, unlocking their potential
and paving the way for a brighter future. You are welcome to partner with
Eunice by supporting her to uplift the helpless children.
